How
to select an Electronic Load
Prodigit provides a very flexible range of Plug-in
Electronic Load module and Mainframe to meet your testing requirements. Plug-in
Electronic Load units have power rating from 75W to 300W. Modules are installed
from the front of the m-ainframe.
Selecting an Electronic Load module:
The 3310 series has CC, CR, CV, dynamic and short
modes, it is most commonly used for R&D, Quality control, and ATE systems.
The 3320 series has CC, and short mode, it is suitable for inspection, production, and burn-in.
Voltage/Current and Wattage ratings for the 3310
and 3320 series modules are shown in the specification chart below.
Determine power requirements in watts and use the
above table to determine which module(s) is (are) required. For example: a 12V
20A power supply would require a 300W module. A dual output power supply would
require two modules.
The lower current rating in the 3310 and 3320 series
Electronic Loads provides higher programming resolution and minimizes load noise
effects to a power supply. Load noise order figures are listed below:
Selecting the proper mainframe:
For single load applications select Prodigit's 3302
Mainframe. This mainframe accepts all 3310 and 3320 series plug-in modules.
For two or more loads requiring dynamic load testing, the 3300A mainframe should
be selected. The 3300A accepts up to four 3310 series plug-in modules.
The 3301 Mainframe should be used for static load
testing. It accepts up to four 3320 series plug-in modules. Selecting
the proper mainframe: For single load applications select Prodigit's 3302 Mainframe.
This mainframe accepts all 3310 and 3320 series plug-in modules.
Note:
The 3300A Mainframe has both GPIB/RS232C interface
with Listen/Talk capability. The 3301 Mainframe has GPIB Master/Slave interface
with Listen. There is no GPIB programmability if a 3310 series Plug-in unit
is used in a 3301 Mainframe. Only front panel manual control is functional in
this case. The Master/Slave function in the 3301 mainframe functions with only
one GPIB address. To control up to eight plug-in modules there is a Master /
Slave cable to connect a Master 3301 Mainframe to a Slave 3301 Mainframe. In
this case, only one GPIB cable and GPIB address is required. Please refer to
the 3301 Mainframe operating manual for more detailed information.
The 3302 single Mainframe accepts all 3310/3320 series
Electronic Load Plug-in units with GPIB. The GPIB function is Listen/Talk for
3310 series and Listen only for 3320 series Plug-in units.
3300A Mainframe GPIB programming
All 3310 series Electronic Load module can be loaded into a 3300A mainframe
in any combination.
GPIB: LISTEN/TALK Capability.
3300A Mainframe RS232C programming
All 3310 series Electronic Load module can be loaded into a 3300A mainframe
in any combination. RS232C : SETTING/READ BACK Capability.
3300A Mainframe RS232C programming All 3310 series Electronic Load module can
be loaded into a 3300A mainframe in any combination. RS232C: SETTING/READ BACK
Capability.
3301 Mainframe programming
All 3320 series Electronic Load module can be put into the 3301 mainframe
in any combination. One GPIB address can control
up to eight load modules if master/slave cable is used.
GPIB: LISTEN only.
3302
Mainframe GPIB programming:
All 3310 and 3320 series
Electronic Load modules can be put into the 3302 mainframe. GPIB: LISTEN only
for 3320 series. LISTEN/TALK for 3310 series.
